Adult Orthodontics Auckland

Specialist Adult Orthodontics
It's never too late to feel better

You're welcome to come and see what is possible

More adults seek orthodontic treatment today than at any previous point in history — and for good reason. The same tooth movements achievable in adolescence remain possible in adulthood, provided the teeth, gums, and supporting bone are healthy. Age itself is not a limiting factor. Dr Adith regularly treats patients in their thirties, forties, fifties, and beyond, delivering results that are clinically equivalent to those achieved in younger patients.

The motivations vary. Some adults may have had treatment as teenagers but now are experiencing relapse. Others never had access to orthodontic treatment when they were young. Many are prompted by a change in professional circumstance — a new role, a major presentation, a wedding — or simply reach a point in life where investing in their smile feels right.

Whatever your motivation, the starting point is the same: a thorough specialist assessment, an honest recommendation and a treatment plan designed around your oral health, lifestyle and goals.

Treatment options for adults and professionals

Adults may be treated with metal or ceramic braces, Invisalign® / Angel Aligner® Pro clear aligners, or a combination of appliances and specialist mechanics. The most discreet option is not automatically the most appropriate option, and braces are not automatically required for every complex case.

Suitability depends on the diagnosis, tooth and root movements required, periodontal support, existing restorations, bite correction and treatment goals. Complex adult care—such as relapse, gummy smiles, significant crowding, skeletal discrepancies, Class II or Class III bites, and treatment coordinated with implants, periodontal care, restorative dentistry or surgery—often benefits from an interdisciplinary plan.

Where indicated, Dr Adith may use fixed appliances, clear aligners, MARPE, TADs or other auxiliaries. He will explain the reasonable options, limitations and trade-offs before treatment begins.

Adult orthodontics and overall dental health

Straight teeth are easier to clean. Properly aligned bites distribute chewing forces more evenly, reducing wear on individual teeth and placing less strain on the jaw joints. For adults with existing restorative work — crowns, veneers, implants, or bridges planned or in place — orthodontics often forms a critical part of the overall treatment sequence. Dr Adith works collaboratively with general dentists, periodontists, and oral surgeons to ensure the orthodontic phase supports the final result of the whole treatment plan.
