Custom-designed 3D clear aligners offer a discreet and removable treatment option for suitable patients. They can manage many alignment and bite problems, but they do not provide the same control as fixed braces for every movement. The most appropriate option depends on the diagnosis, required root and crown movements, supporting tissues, bite correction and the patient’s ability to wear the aligners consistently.

Because aligners are removable, you eat and drink normally — no food restrictions, no cleaning around brackets and wires. You brush and floss as you normally would. Compliance is the most important factor
Clear aligners must be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day to work as planned. Patients who wear their trays consistently, change them on schedule, and attend review appointments achieve excellent, predictable results. Patients who do not — whether due to forgetfulness, discomfort, or social situations — will find their treatment extended or their result compromised. Dr. Adith Venugopal
Dr Adith Venugopal is a Dental Council of New Zealand–registered specialist orthodontist, PhD-qualified researcher, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago Faculty of Dentistry. He has published peer-reviewed research on clear aligner outcomes and applies that evidence directly in clinical practice. Every clear aligner case at Parnell Orthodontics is planned and managed personally by Dr Adith.
